Here and now. In this beginning of 2020, upset by a virus that is the enemy of all our certainties, the Louis Vuitton fashion show for Autumn-Winter 2020/21 becomes food for thought. Nicolas Ghesqui&egrave;re called the four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Milena Canonero and asked her to dress the 200 characters, lined up in an imposing grandstand, with clothing inspired by the fashions of the different eras, starting from the fifteenth century, until 1950. he entrusted Woodkid and Bryce Desser with the task of composing a music built according to a baroque system and with repeated looping verses. After which he brought to the platform the answer to a seemingly impossible question, that is, what would jump out of the simultaneous encounter of the many fashions that have followed over the centuries? There are sporty jackets with prominent shoulders, worn over tapered pinstripe trousers. Immediately after, it is the turn of swaying multi-flounced skirts, perhaps combined with transparent chiffon trousers. A leather biker pants in bright and contrasting colors, which in some cases turn into wraparound skirts. And then come leather jackets with the fur collar in strong colors squeezed at the waist over trousers furrowed by front zippers, designed to create infinite embossing. Suddenly the history of fashion gathers in a perfect moment in which everything and the opposite of everything applies. Styles meet, collide, mix, sometimes screech with each other. The message is strong: everyone is master of their own image and through what they wear, they can tell their story.
