The English artist Esme Hodsoll, born in 1992, exhibits her first solo exhibition Air du Temps at the Alma Zevi gallery in Venice

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/almazevi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Alma Zevi</a> Art Gallery presents the first exhibition of the young English artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/esme.hodsoll/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Esme Hodsol l</a> Air du Temps on Friday 24 September. Bring together a young English artist, writer and publisher Digby Warde-Aldam, a close friend of Hodsoll and a late October Paris facing an imminent return to pandemic restrictions. The result? a visceral and vital art, decidedly sober, but with a great evocative power. The <a href="https://www.lofficielitalia.com/arte/mostre-2021-milano-durante-la-fashion-week" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exhibition</a> includes some oil paintings collected in the artist's first five years of activity made in his Paris studio and convey a truly unique sensitivity. These are some still lifes and <a href="https://www.lofficielitalia.com/arte/talia-chetrit-fotografia-opere-famiglia-significato-fotografie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">domestic life</a> scenes, never banal, full of tension and emotion, thanks to a careful study of light and space. “To quote Cézanne: 'to paint according to nature is not to copy the object, it is to realize our sensations'. This is what I strive for, and in terms of style - if you can call it that - I aim to do it in the subtlest, if charged, way possible ”. And his painting is really subtle, meticulous and nothing is left to chance. Like that fig left for too long on the windowsill that drips until it stains the white of the radiator (or air conditioner?) With a certain plum color or those medicines (or vitamins?) Placed neatly, as if they were in scale, near the glass. In her paintings there is an almost maniacal search for detail and in a period in which contemporary art pushes in a completely opposite direction, she obsessively squares and frames everything, but always leaving a sense of movement. >> Scroll down to see some Esme Hodsoll paintings

The exhibition of Esme Hodsoll Air du Temps will be at the Alma Zevi gallery, of the homonymous founder, in Venice open to the public from 25 September 2021 to 6 November 2021
