Chanel: why is Karl Lagerfeld's last show memorable?
For its fall winter procession 2019-2020, Chanel is once again devoted to winter sports, having unveiled last March Coco Neige , his first collection reserved for skiing. Under the nave of the Grand Palais, the house of Rue Cambon has installed a real ski village, between typical chalets branded Gardenia, snow-covered fir trees and mountain panorama.
To pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld , who passed away on February 19, the celebrities closest to the fashion designer met on the podium, including Penelope Cruz , a white rose in hand, and the regulars of the house, Cara Delevingne , Kaia Gerber , Vittoria Ceretti or Anna Ewers . Needless to say, the emotion was palpable.
The inspiration of the show? Skiing, the mountain, and all the symbols of winter in general. The signature codes of the house, such as tweed, were reinterpreted in the XXL version, including a glimpse of Cara Delevingne , while dresses were seen as ski suits. Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard also unveil the perfect dressing of the party girl, imagining short dresses shaped like a snowball. The same goes for the stuffed boots, another essential of the ski locker, reinterpreted pure luxury version, while the mythical Christmas sweater becomes couture. Finally, special mention for accessories, perfect reflection of the theme of the collection. The earrings are considered like real snowflakes, while the bags take the form of gondolas, well thought to go up the slopes.
Finally, to honor one last time the genius of Karl Lagerfeld , a parterre of stars had gathered in front row of the parade, Naomi Campbell through Marion Cotillard , Kristen Stewart , Monica Bellucci or Claudia Schiffer .
